What Is VBS?

VBS stands for Vacation Bible School!  Where children from 4 years old through 6th grade learn all about Jesus, our Savior.   Older students graduating from 7th grade -- Highschool are welcome to volunteer as Youth Helpers.  Follow the  registration links for more information. for both Youth and Adult volunteers.

VBS at Trinity Lutheran Church is FREE! (We do collect donations of clothing and money for a mission project every year) Be prepared for a lot of fun and excitement!

Children join groups based on the grade they have just completed.  Each group has an adult guide plus several helpers to take the children through a series of rotations.  Every day, the children see & hear the Bible story of the day, learn a theme verse, do a craft, sing great songs, see themed skits, visit a discovery center, and have time for snack/recreation.

VBS 2017 is A Mighty Fortress where children will learn that in Jesus, the victory is won! Kids confidently celebrate that Jesus, their champion, has won the victory over sin, death, and Satan; that He acts through His Word and keeps His promises. Because the victory is won, every day is a day to celebrate! Kids will look into the Bible, God's Holy Word, to discover that God is our Mighty Fortress, our Shield, and our Deliverer.

At Mighty Fortress, kids learn that God is their refuge and strength. Friends may fail them. They may not ace their test or make the team, but God promises to be their rock and their salvation—their fortress and sure defense. So raise your banner! In Jesus, the victory is won!

Our Mission Project

Feed My Starving Children

FMSC logoThe Mission Project for Vacation Bible School this year is support for Ithaca's Feed My Starving Children MobilePack event. Feed My Starving Children is a not-for-profit Christian-based organization out of Minnesota. (See FMSCTheir goal is to help some of the most acutely impoverished children in the world.  They serve over 60 countries, (Haiti received 25 million meals last year). 94% of the funding they receive goes towards the food production (6% is used for administration).

Feed My Starving Children operates four full-time food packaging facilities in the Midwest. In addition, for big community events (100,000 meals or larger), they offer the opportunity for people to participate in what they call “MobilePack” events. During these events people take bulk, nutritionally balanced food of four types (rice, vegetables, soy, and vitamins) and combine them into smaller meal packets.  These packets are then boxed and shipped to villages, where agencies distribute the food for at least one full year at that same location. For the MobilePack event, 100% of your financial help goes directly towards the food we will be packing.
